The book i was given was titled the "Murder At Corpsewood". I have read this book numerous times. I would like to have more information on the people and the place. My report is due at the end of March. The problem i am having is that the men who lived in Corpsewood did not seem to be bad people. They appeared to be decent, quite, congenial, people. I would like to have more information about the histories of these men. Most especially The Odom man. Is there anyone who can tell me anything? I plan to drive to your town and vist the site for photos for my report. Has the property sold? Is it posted no tresspassing? Is there a need for me to fear going to this place? I really need a A on this paper to keep my goverment funding coming. I am a good student. And by no means do i want to destroy property. Nor do i want to cause harm. If there is anyone who has any better driving directions than i currently have those would be much appreciated too. Thank you. IP: Logged

I've never heard of this story. Where is Corpsewood Manor? I was born and raised in Villa Rica, Georgia and I'm looking for info on the Causey family. But, back to the Corpsewood Manor story. The road will turn into a dirt road. Soon after,you'll come upon a 3 way, go RIGHT. Now this road will take forever. About 20 minutes,more or less. Anyways, you stay on the dirt road, and keep an eye to the left. It's around a real sharp curve ( yeah, I just described the whole road) and there is a pull-off on the left. You'll know you're on the right track if you see a trail, with 3 or 4 dirt mounds blocking the beginning of it. Start walking,this will also take a while,untill you get to a tree blocking the trail,don't worry,to the left is a smaller trail that will circle around the tree. Soon after you'll come to a small clearing, veer to your right,and you'll see the trail again,with big chunks of rock from where the gate was. If you can follow my directions, have fun. Prior to that my friends and I (all class of '95 from LaFayette ) would go to Corpsewood a few times a year. Last time we went, the road was no longer dirt, but had been graveled and about 100 yards past the second entrance to Corpsewood had actually been paved. I also remember a couple of different turns in the road that if you followed would dead end. Also, the last time we went, we decided to follow the newly paved section - it used to end instead - and we came out somewhere in Dalton. There were several (at least 2 or 3) newly built houses there as well. Now that I live in Dalton, I am sort of curious as to where - it would definately be a shorter drive than all the way down 151 onto 27 and back over. Does anyone know about these changes? Where that new road comes out at? If they finished developing that area? A friend of mine had heard me tell the story and is interested in going to see this... Their first names were charles and joey and i have been looking for more information on their deaths. My mom use to take me up there as a child and i can remember everything in the house. Mainly on Friday 13thg and halloween and so on. And guess what tonight is... I grew up in Trion and Summerville and always rode horses with my family to corpsewood. I guess that's why it has never bothered or seemed wierd to me. I've always hoped for something strang to happen, but nothing. Probably the most strange thing I've seen is an older lady and man were there sitting on some ruins, smoking a joint. They shared so it wasn't an uncomfortable situation or anything... actuall pretty cool. Ben Ballenger was involved in the trial, I believe, as a defense lawyer for the two boys that were convicted of killing the doctor and his friend. I believe Ben is a lawyer or judge in Summerville. The book is out of print, but available at the Summerville library and some local used book stores. The site is in a farely isolated area. There is no cell phone service and I wouldn't recommend going alone. IP: Logged
Mi-Chi-Ale New Member Posts: 1 From:lagrange georgia usa Registered: Jan 2010	posted January 02, 2010 03:42 AM lastnight early this morning me and some friends tried to find corpsewood manner and well we spent HOURS looking for the place i useing the instructions given to us here and by the locals with no luck ......soo ill just post some questions and other things maybe yall can help us or give us better directions with better landmarks .....soo we get to the gasstation and make that right we fallowed it to a dirt road on this dirt road going straight we say 2 forks in the road ((technicaly they can be considered 3 ways do to the Y shape but anyways when we drove straight far enough we came across a paved road that had been not well kept up we keep going straight and we come across a 3 way in this shape T it looks to be a fairly new road/ highway ((obviously probly went to far)) anyways we also saw this road going off to the side with a blue bar blocking it according to the locals we supose to had taken one of the forks.......wich we did and we went down this long ass dirt road with many many many probly 7 or 8 90 degree turns and finnaly it deads end at this huge coldisac shape looking things infront of us is well dirt mounds we go up them and look around we figure its probly a hunting trail cause all the suden it goes down the mountian ..........then comeing back to the car on our left is a road marked with road closed we probly hiked maybe a mile up that closed road and we saw nothing but well it keeps going .....just by this time we gone to far and was to tired we live in troup county its a 3 hour drive just to the mountian ........we also found yet another fork Y shape before we got to the dead end.....we also found this one spon on our right that had dirt mounds but we also thought those was hunting trails.........soo please give us some better directions or land marks........ps .........the Y shapes flip them soo the bottom is the top to get the angle wich we was looking at.........thanks for the help IP: Logged
