Searching for any and all information on the Stephan Paton Smith (Sr.) and his wife Elizabeth Lyons (originally from Alabama). They moved to Macon, GA., but the problem is we don't know if it's the county or the city. Since Elizabeth is from Alabama I'm willing to bet it's the county. Anyway, the story goes: Stephen was killed while trying to trane a horse and left Elizabeth to raise their five children: Cordella, Robinson, William Caswell, James Sterling and Stephen Paton, Jr. I don't know if she died in Macon and is buried with her husband or if she died in Knoxville, Tennessee where she moved her children at some point after her husbands death.
Cordella married a man with the surname of Frost from Chattanooga.
It's not thought that Robinson ever married, but did have a daugther, but by whom it is not known.
William Caswell married Viola Sarah Ann May in a double wedding ceremony with him brother, James Sterling, who married Viola's sister Ella Margaret May. They married at the Knox County Court House in Knoxville, Tennessee. James Sterling and Ella Margaret Smith then moved back to Macon, Ga to live the remainder of their lives. All that is known about them is that they had three girls and one of the girls, we believe the youngest was named Edna Earle.
Stephen Paton Smith, Jr. married Florence Sloan in Knox County, Knoxville, TN and had eleven children before she died in 1902. Only six out of the eleven survived: *Ella, *Mary, *Lizzie, Elmer, Nellie Cordella, Jessie Rae, *(twins) Pearl & Rhueba, William, Stephan Paton, III and Hattie Mae.
The names with the * before them are the ones that died.
If anyone could help out with the Macon Ga issue I would appreciate it.
