I wanted to let you know about an event happening this coming weekend.
For its recent recognition as a 2007 Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education, Pierce Downer Elementary School students and faculty will be honored at a celebration on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at the Bakers Square restaurant in Downers Grove.
The U.S. Department of Education awards the “Blue Ribbon” to K-12 schools both public and private that are either academically superior in their states or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement. Pierce Downer achieved the distinction due to the students’ impressive ISAT scores that are in the top 10%.
The entire community of Downers Grove is invited to attend the celebration, which is also a school fundraiser. Ten percent of Bakers Square sales during the fundraiser night from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. will benefit Pierce Downer Elementary School.
