I saw your question about Wakenda Missouri, and wanting to hear from someone from there.
Unfortunatly, this town ceased to exist about 10 years ago. It's town plot was only about 15 foot above the Missouri River level, and it would flood out about every 5 years or so. Finally the government bought everyone out and they bulldozed the town. There is a granite marker there in between two soybean fields that gives a little history of the town. I actually plan to visit Wakenda this weekend when I go to a family reunion in Waverly, which is about 15 miles from Wakenda. I was there once when it was a town, as I had an elderly aunt that lived there. That was about 20 years ago.
