There are a number of very good sources to look in.. 1880 Mississippi census, if you know the names of relatives that far back. Old church membership, burials, baptism, and pastors. Early school names and records. the web site-- ancestry.com -- is an excellent source of information, because of the vast links it can provide. And finally, old jail, prison, and voter rolls can be a great souce of infomation. Hope this helps, and good luck on your continued search for your family.
