I am trying to trace the trail of a wagontrain that crossed Oklahoma, going south to north, in 1879. They crossed the Red River at Preston, NW of Denison, TX, then traveled NE along the Texas Road/Shawnee Trail/Butterfield Rt., crossing the Blue River somewhere near Kenefic. That morning they headed toward "Johnson Ranch," which they reached well before nightfall. There they camped, rested, bought provisions. The next day they reached Old Rockwall. I have not been able to locate or learn anything about Johnson Ranch. I am guessing it is somewhere around Wapanucka. Any clues?IP: Logged |
