Hello out there!
We are trying to contact places around the world called Afton. We just want to know how the names came about and whither they originated from the Afton in New Cumnock, a wee town in Ayrshire Scotland.
We are in the process of tidying up the town and surrounding area especially the Afton Water of "Flow Gently Sweet Afton" fame, in time for next year's Homecoming Scotland (Google).
