I would like to share information on the Posey family from Birchwood, TN. My father's mother was "Susie Posey"(born in approximately 1881) who was from Birchwood, Grasshopper Creek area, she was 1/2 Native American. I do not know her parents names but she had brother's named Jim, William, and possibly Luther. She had a sister named Emmarilla, and possibly others. She married Thomas J Farmer from the north Georgia area and they had two children together, Thomas J Farmer Jr and Lilly M Farmer. Emmarilla(nickname Rill) had a son named Sam Posey, and later married a Gossett(not sure of name or spelling). Jim Posey was said to have been a "snakehandling preacher". He was also said to have a son-in-law who was either a sheriff or deputy sheriff. I believe Suzie died in 1931 and was buried as Mrs T J Farmer. Emmarilla and Susie are both buried at Damascus Baptist Church in Resaca, Ga, Gordon County. Any information would be kindly appreciated, Thank You.------------------
