Some Fact About
SHANKAR PRASAD GHOSHAL
Sankar Prasad Ghoshal immigrated to the United States in 1972. He first lived in New York City in a rented apartment. He then purchased a house around late 1974 in Long Island (a suburb of New York City). The address was -
3713 Hunt Road,
At that time he worked for the First National and City Bank of New York (now called the Citi Bank)- address was 399 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10022 - phone number (212) 627-3999. He rose to the position of Senior Vice President of the Bank. He was laid off (Lost his job) after a few years of sevice. He moved to the Chase Manhattan Bank as a Vice President. He lost his job after a few years (typical in American job market). He worked for some organization in New Jersey. At that point he sold his house and settled in New Jersey. He changed his name from Shankar to Sam (Sam Ghoshal). His bussiness card bears the name Sam Ghoshal. He lost his job a few more times. At present he lives in the city of Providence, state of Rhode Island (see the adderss below).
In terms of family life, whether he came to the the USA as a married man bringing his wife along or his wife joined him shortly afterward is not known to me. The name of his wife was Pritha. She was a tall women. Though married, she contested (illigally?) in Miss Calcutta in 1972 during a brief trip to India, and won the title. Shankar has two sons by this marriage. Eldest one, I believe, is Niladri. The second son's name I could not gather. Pritha, at one time in 1970's, worked for the State Bank of India at 460 Park Avenue,New York, NY 10022,Phone number (212)521-3200.
Shankar and Pritha were very active in dramas, theaters and acting.Together with a team they performed many acts in various parts of the U.S. Pritha died in 1966 while visiting India by some mysterious illness. Shankar was in New Jersey, USA at that time. He went to Calcutta, did the last Hindu rituals etc. and returned to the U.S.A.
After three years of widower's life, Shankar (SAM) married a widow by the name Dipali(Dipa) Bhattacharya, a member of the drama team, in September 1997.
Present address of the couple is
