Author Topic:   Name of River in Gile wagnerstephen New Member Posts: 1 From: Registered: Jul 2004 posted July 29, 2004 07:57 PM             Can anyone tell me the local name of the river that runs through Gile WI, where Gile Falls is located. According to the maps the 'official' name is the West Branch of the Montreal River, but there was a sign on the bridge in town with a very long and interesting native name. Thanks in advance. I checked my plat book maps and other maps to no avail but then looked at a composite map I have showing the original survey plats made in the mid-1800s. They show a Ke-chi-se-be-we-shee River in that area. I think that may be the one in question. I go through that area every fall so will double-check next October. C. J. Ernest ------------------ C.
