I was checking out Oakland properties on realtor.com, and I came across a listing for a large, older house that looked fascinating (I have a thing for 19th century homes). It says in its description that it was once a boarding home. Is anyone familiar with this property? Does anyone know when this place stopped operating as a boarding home? Has it been abandoned for a considerable amount of time? Here's a link -

I went and looked at this house with an inspector and he states beams in basement that hold house up rotted and ready to fall through the floor. About 10 to 15 thousand just for new support beams. Badly needs a new roof another 10 to 15 thousand. No electric upstairs. 3 sets of stairs going upstairs very nice. Needs alot of windows. Has 3 kitchens none of which are workable. Needs alot of work but might be worth it for someone who has a lot of money to put into this house. Has low ceilings and big rooms. Floor plans is set up neat like a maze. Lots of walls need to come down so that the house flows again. You can see into the basement from outside in a lot of places. Post any more Questions and if I can answer them I would be happy to.

I forgot to say that house has been empty for about 3 years. And is an estate with 8 children. Takes a long time to get a reponse back but has had 3 offers all around 30,000 and they would not except offers. No heat during winter and some floors are slanted would need floor jacks to make them straight.
