HONORING CHEVIOT, OH WW II WOMEN VETs:Know anyone who used to live in Cheviot, OH? Do you have relatives that live there now who served during WW II? I am researching the women of Cheviot, OH who served in the military during WW II. There is a plaque attached to the Cheviot Recreation Building on Robb Avenue in Cheviot, OH dedicated to the men and women who served their country in WWII from Cheviot, OH. There are names of twenty-three women. They are listed as:
BASTIAN, AURELIA
BOUCK, ELINOR A.
BUERGER, FRANCES
BUSCH, EVELYN
DICK, DOROTHY
ELLERHORST, VIRGINIA
FAY, ALMA
FREIENSTEIN, ELINOR R.
FREIENSTEIN, HELEN L.
HAUCK, ELSIE
HESS, DOROTHY
KEMME, IMOGENE
KRAMER, ROSE MARY
LAWS, MILDRED
MCDONOUGH, IRENE E.
MUCKENFUSS, HAZEL
ROBERTS, ROSELLA
ROETTING, BETTY R.
SCHALK, BETTY
SCHNITTKER, RUTH
SOMMER, RITA
WARREN, JUNE ANN
WOPPERER, MILDRED
Does anyone know of these women: which branch of the service, when they were sworn in, where they went to boot camp, where they were stationed, what was their rank, any medals, commissions, and when they retired/resigned? Our city has no records and neither the city of Cincinnati. I would like to compile the info to have at the Cheviot Admin Building and the public library, plus a copy for myself for my research. It is hard to believe no records exist. Please send any info you can offer to my email address at gunn_pa1950@yahoo.com. Thank you for taking the time. Pat
