I lived here once before 8 years ago, and at that time a man by the name of Hayward William Bissell had kidnapped his Ohio girl friend Patricia Booher and it was rumored that he had killed her in the gas station parking lot near Trion School... The gas station attendant had claimed that she heard eerie sounds coming from a customers car sounding like crys for help but thought no more of it...and it was the very next day his murderous rampage continued. He tried killing more, or had killed, not sure more people in Alabama...The police finally caught him and they said when he was wrestled to the ground that her esophagus was in her shirt pocket. I just want to know what ever happened to him? It made world news at the time of it happening...but since there is nothing on the web about him...I only found two where an author wrote a book called Blood Highway, and a small paragraph that reads this:

PATRICIA ANN BOOHER - Murdered and mutilated
Hayward W. Bissell - Charges pending
Norwalk woman's slaying a grisly puzzle for family (Cleveland Plain Dealer )
The victim's eyes and heart had been gouged out. A hand and foot had been severed. The esophagus was in Bissell's shirt pocket, while other body parts lay in the car.
I found that on Cybersleuths...why hasn't there been more of an uproar on this vile killer? its been 8 years and the family still doesn't have peace of mind. I would just like to know more on this...if anyone knows anything...please email me at: I am also the one who requested more info on Corpsewood Manor.
Thank you

Ohio man given life sentence in slaying, mutilation of woman killed in Gerogia
SUMMERVILLE, Ga. - An Ohio man was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty but mentally ill to killing and mutilating his girlfriend two years ago on a trip to Florida. He was arrested in northeast Alabama after violent confrontations there.

Hayward Bissell, 39, formerly of Norwalk, Ohio, was indicted by a grand jury Tuesday in the January 2000 slaying of Patricia Ann Booher. Investigators believe she was killed at a convenience store in Chattooga County, Ga.

Superior Court Judge Kristina Cook Connelly sentenced Bissell on Wednesday.

The guilty but mentally ill plea will require Georgia Department of Corrections officials to supervise Bissell's condition, including medication and housing at a prison suitable for his psychiatric care, District Attorney Herbert "Buzz" Franklin said.

Police said Booher, also of Norwalk, had been stabbed numerous times, her eyes gouged and some of her organs partly removed. A hand and leg had been cut off, and she was sitting in the front seat of Bissell's car.

Bissell told investigators he was a Secret Service agent on a special mission and was looking for a hospital morgue to make a report.

Bissell was arrested days after the slaying in Hammondville, Ala., when officers making a traffic stop found Booher's body. Bissell and Booher were en route to Winter Haven, Fla., to visit Bissell's father.

In Alabama, Bissell was accused of trying to kill Donald Pirch of Fort Payne, by striking him with a car, and stabbing James Pumphrey of Mentone with a knife at Pumphrey's home.

Last November, Sheriff Cecil Reed in DeKalb County, Ala., said Bissell was taking medication for his mental state and rarely went outside, with his weight dropping from an estimated 400 pounds at the time of his arrest to about half that.
